About Somerset House
Somerset House provides a home and care for elderly people who are no longer able to cope in their own homes. We aim to provide a warm and homely atmosphere with quality care by well trained and experienced staff.
Our residents are encouraged to pursue their hobbies, interests and social life and visitors are welcome at all times.
Close contact with the local community is actively encouraged with liaison between various organisations such as the Yeo Valley Lions and Churches of all denominations. Regular outings are organised for those wishing to participate.
We are also pleased to offer the services of a professional hairdresser who visits each week and a private chiropodist.
The house has recently been refurbished to an exceptionally high standard, specifically designed to meet the needs of the elderly. All our rooms are single, tastefully decorated, furnished to the highest standards, are centrally heated, have wash hand basins and naturally have the benefit of an emergency call system. Some items of personal furniture may also be brought.
The Coach House, being separate from the main House, offers residents a greater degree of independence but with security and peace of mind.
There are three comfortable reading and TV lounges, dining room and a conservatory overlooking the well established gardens. Bath, shower rooms and toilets are easily accessible on all floors.
Our staff includes a full-time Care Manager who is trained specifically in the care of the elderly and eight trained key workers who each take care of a small number of residents and their individual needs.
A full-time cook provides a comprehensive menu of excellent home cooking using only fresh local produce. We are only too happy to cater for special dietary needs.
Staffing levels are always maintained and often exceed those recommended by the Registration Authority.
