What level of independence do residents need to have?
We can accommodate most people, however, residents must be able to weight-bear and walk a short distance unaided and unsupervised.
What is the food like?
A full-time cook provides a comprehensive menu of excellent home cooking using only fresh local produce. The menu is varied but remains simple home cooking.
Can you cater for special diets?
We are only too happy to cater for special dietary needs.
Can I keep my own GP?
Yes, if they are local. All residents are registered with the local general practitioners in Yatton, Congresbury or Wrington.
Can I bring my own furniture?
Personal furniture can be accommodated by arrangement. However all furnishing needs can be met by the home.
Is smoking allowed?
A smoking lounge is provided.
What about visits to dentist etc?
Opticians visit the home by arrangement. A dentist will visit by arrangement. A physiotherapist visits once a week; an Activities Coordinator visits one afternoon a week.
What activities and social events are planned?
All residents have the freedom of the garden, and various games, books and jigsaw puzzles are available. Television is provided in three lounges, radio and music in another, the remaining area is kept as a quite room. Large print books and audio tapes are delivered from the local library. A hairdresser visits weekly.
Transport is provided throughout the year for residents wishing to attend village activities. Christmas shopping trips are arranged. Local organisations often plan events to which residents are invited or in-house entertainment arranged.
Residents are encouraged to participate in the general activities of the Home. If a resident wishes to help with small household chores they are able to do so.
What is your staffing level?
Senior staff will be resident in the home at all times. The Manager will be in the home for 40 hours a week. Emergency cover from the senior staff will always be available. There are never less than two qualified care assistants on duty, extra care assistants are on duty during the mornings to facilitate bathing, a full time cook, kitchen assistant and domestics complete the staff.
Do you have an emergency call system?
Yes. An emergency call system is supplied by the Home. All residents' bedrooms and other rooms in the home have a push button system to bed head.
